Together they are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the CIAP and for developing goals and objectives. They are also accountable to the members for the CIAP's progress. The Chairman of Council is known as the President. He/she is elected after 3 years by the directors. The executive staff based at Islamabad are led by the Executive Director and are responsible for the day to day running of the CIAP.

Committees

A number of committees have been created to support Council. Additional task forces, working groups and advisory panels are also set up on an ad-hoc basis as and when required.

Regions

The network of CIAP is an integral and essential component of the Institute's organisational structure. Their purpose is to provide a means by which all members have the opportunity to participate and be involved in the affairs of the Institute and the development of the profession. Regions hold regular events and workshops on a variety of internal auditing topics. These provide members with an opportunity to expand their knowledge and to exchange ideas and experiences with other practitioners working in their local area.

Volunteers

The CIAP relies on the efforts and talents of its members for the smooth running of its governance structure. All positions are held by members on a volunteer basis, many with the generous support of their employers. Committed volunteers are always needed to service on committees and ad-hoc working groups.
